14-turn doubles with an EVX-2 in my clod??

I may be buying a set of 540 size 14-turn doubles.(trinity)
Wanting to know if my EVX-2 can handle that running 16.8v (nimh).
It's rated for up to 12-turn in 550 size with 16.8v, no idea on 540 size.
And no idea what double wound vs single wound means as far as load on the esc.
It's my understanding that a super rooster can handle these motors, so I think I'm all set, but would like to know for sure.

Thanks

A 12 turn 550 motor is equivalent to a 15 turn 540 motor. Add 3 turns to a 550 motor and that is the approximate equivalent in a 540 size motor. FYI, 540 mod motors are not rated for that many volts and will blow winds off the arm. That has been my experinece. They run like crazy right before they melt...

Your speed control will be fine with those motors.
Your motors will not be fine with those voltages.
Step down to a 7 cell pack or a li-po 7.4v for any lasting results..

Hmmmmmm.........this is interesting,
I truly didn't realize the 540 wasn't supposed to handle that.
I've been running my stockers most all summer with an XL-5 and 7-cells.
Switched to an EVX-2 about a month ago and couldn't resist the temptation to add the 2nd battery. It didn't help that my brother-in-law got a clod with monster mash 16T motors. With the dual batts I could keep up with him.....and thanks to the stockers 27T low end I could take him off the line.

Anyway.....I knew it was pushing the stock cans limits but they took it.
The brushes actually wore out, nothing melted....but then again they are not mod motors. My brother in law now has an EVX-2 also. He tried dual batteries but due to his suspension it was uncontrollable. His motors didn't get that hot though........

I think I still want these motors and I'll probably start with one battery.
......but I know I'm gonna' go for two sooner or later.

BTW- these are NIB trinity speed gems from 1997.
Does $20 each (so $40) sound decent? I'm thinking so.

andy 20 each for the motors is perfect!!!

That's good to here pede (didn't know you were over here too).
I was actually off on the model year. They are Speed Gem2 Onyx from 1999.
A certain crusty old moderator we both know and love is selling them to me.

About the voltage issue.....:shk

I do have 7.4 and 11.1 lipos. I don't have an LVC.....:bang
I thought I had read somewhere about using a single 11.1 lipo??
If so, maybe I should invest in a LVC (or LVA)

Anyway if this won't be faster with a single 7-cell than my stockers are with dual nimh......maybe I'll just run them in my SC10....?
