When I thought about doing this event, one goal that I had in mind was to create an*atmosphere that would make the industry take a look at all of the dedicated solid axle monster truck racers that are out there. So I started brain storming, and I asked my self, it would be super cool if we were to have an gathering where we could say we*had the most Clodbusters in 1 place at one time. I think this would open Tamiya's eyes to see that there is still a huge following for this truck, and help them realize that maybe the truck needs to be re-released or maybe even be updated. After that, I went a step farther and thought it would be event cooler to have the most solid axle monster trucks in one place at one time period. With that being said, the last thing on my mind was limiting entries. There are other factors that influced this decision, include the justification of having participants travel from great distances to get as much track time as possible. There are a few ways for*multiple entries work successfully. Over several years of running this format,* I have found that what works best is the following:
*If one racer has to face off against them self, he or she chooses to advance the truck that they wish to run in the next round. They run the truck in the lane that They choose, and record a time to be used for the next rounds lane choice. Now, lets say in the unfortunate event that somehow the truck gets disqualified during that run by hitting the timing system, or red lighting ect. then that truck will be disqualified and the truck that was not chosen to advance initially will be the one to advance. At this point the participant must run the 2nd truck to get a time for the next rounds lane choice. In the unfortunate event that this run gets disqualified due to hitting the timing system, or red lighting ect..
then the 2nd truck will still advance, because we have a rule that states the first truck to commit the infraction is the truck that will be eliminated.
*We are looking to first establish a base line with this initial event to see how it goes without hindering the events potential by limiting the amount of entries a person can bring. I can say from experience that having an excessive amount of* multiple entries can become taxing, because you have so many trucks to keep up with and keep running. If you have the means to have multiple entries, by all means be my guest. Yes it increases your chances of advancing through the bracket,* but you also have to take into consideration the fact that this event will be taking place at the I-hobby expo, which will have plenty of things to see in conjunction with the great event that we are planning. With that said you may also want to have time go check out, the exhibitors as well as converse with your fellow competitors and friends. If you have so many entries to maintain you may not have the opportunity to see as much of the expo as you can and make the most out of the event in its entirety. If your not concerned with that aspect of the show, then enter as many trucks as you want.* At the end of the day, participants all have different reasons for attending an event, but the main goal is for everyone to have Fun. If you want to enter multiple trucks in each class, that perfectly fine, or if you want to enter one truck and have time to checkout the show and catch up with friends and fellow racers that fine as well. I just hope to see everyone there, for a great weekend of racing and fellowship, that will hopefully be a memorable experience for all that are involved.
