i have been looking for thorbob's thread forever. thank you for finding that.
i remember seeing that about 3 years ago.

def will help with the ideas some.

here's my update... (sorry bout the pic quality)

well here are some updated pics.

took some 3mm carbon and made some pieces for the lower link mounts. also got the knuckles locked. they will look cleaner when its ready to drive, its all text fit for now.
i plan to use some kyosho ST upper rear arms for the links. they are quite a bit longer, and pretty much beef.
also got an idea for the shock mounts on the turnbuckle part of the lower links. i will have to get that up here in the next few days as well.
still workin on the sides of this thing. i have the carbon. and been thinkin about just getting a rotozip to make my own. i have had a few suggestions from people who could cut it for me, but i am affraid of getting the measurements a bit off i guess.

anyway: onto the pics. (with my blackberry) i know im lame

check it out guys,
cut some CF tonight, with the hacksaw blade. yeah, that's right, just holding a blade, no handle attached. but i used a glove, so it wasn't that bad
i used a piece aluminum stock as a straight edge clamped along each edge cut. i had each side bolted together so that each side would at least share the same mistakes :)
had to take it apart before the last few cuts for some test fitting.
what do you think?

Hey I got some drafts of the simplest mount for the vertical plates I can come up with. ?? thick and ?? tall. Front ones are 1.5? long and read ones are 4.25? long. I have to have them staggered on the inside and the outside because of the shape of the chassis.
Thing is I don?t know how good these are. They would take some 4mm bolts to attach to the chassis, and some 3mm to attach to the vertical plates with some washers to spread the load on the CF.
Don?t pay attention to the location of the center diff and motor. That is moveable.

Take a look at the pics. If you have some better ideas please feel free to let me know. I am mainly concerned with lateral stability.

I look forward to your thoughts!

i have having the mounts machined by mhesse. so be creative.

Looking good!

I ended up mouting the battery in the back of the cage over the rear axle. I was concerned it was too high and too far back, but lipo's are pretty light and it gave the rear a lot of traction. Defintely needed a rear swaybar, but when I got it all sorted out it drove great! My motor was much further forward though than yours, I think that evened it all out.

hey guys, i haven't updated this thread on this site in a while. some of you have probably seen my updates on other forums, but for those who haven't here are some more pics. i also got a body for this sucker. Ford SVT Raptor. just waiting for a final paint to make the black, FLAT.

here is the candy...

had to do some milling to make the servo sit lower. took some time on the drill press with lots of clamping and eye-balling, but it worked.

i've got a low profile in my 1/0th touring car. that i love. its fast and small.

do you think 125oz would work well in a 1/8th size rig? i was thinking closer to 200 would be good.

that's about what a 645mg is and I ran it fine in my 1/8th buggy forever. My SC8 I only have 147 oz/in in and it's heavier than your rig will be.

ok. very good advice. your truck is much bigger. i suppose since i won't be racing this thing hardcore, and just bashing that smaller oz/in will do fine

paints done. the flat black is more of a satin. but at least its not shiny like it was. i like it. just gotta get the vertical number plates on, and its done. might put more stickers on, but i like it like this.

here are the shout-outs! too bad its not on the chassis yet, or i might get truck of the month :) the truck is taken apart right now though waiting for parts...
