    Default KK-2......the beginning

    Members do not see advertisements
The KK-2 is now officially under way!

This one is going to be based on the TXT-1 and its going to be awesome (I hope ).

I have all my TXT parts pretty much gathered, and now that I am done with my second KK-1 I can now get started with modeling. Finally!

I am pretty excited about this build because I have always wanted a TXT based monster and this will be my first shafty.

About what does it cost a man to put them together Ernie? They would be perfect axles for a retro.

I ran a tally of the cost and it's about $200. I saved a little because I have some Clod parts I can use on this one. If I had known HawnMT was going to sell his axles, I would have snagged those up! He posted his right after I placed my order.

Mental note.....next project is going to be a Delorean with a flux capacitor.

lol! I guess I did not realize how pricey they can be when I began looking. So are you gonna run the KK chassis as a shafty or is this a whole new endeavor?

This will be a brand new chassis designed specifically for the TXT. I've got ideas I've been scratching down on paper for weeks. I'm anxious to get started.

$200 for axles isn't too bad. I was considering other platforms, but they all kept tallying up within the same ballpark.

Potentially with the release of the TXT-2 there may be an increase of parts beconing available, hopefully driving prices down... nice idea anyway!

Hi Ernie, cant wait to see what you come up with for a chassis, if its anything like your clod chassis you will have a definite winner!! Hopefully you will make these for sale too in the future.
I think the biggest issue with the txt 2 is that its really heavy, I picked up my clod with your chassis and my txt 2 and I swear the txt 2 is double the weight of the clod! The txt needs to go on a serious diet!

I finally started doing some modeling tonight, and I began with the TXT axles.
This is the model as it stands, and I will post pics as I make progress.
As the model matures, more details will appear.

For the uneducated (me!), why are you making images of the axles?

I'm making CAD models of the axles, and I'll use them for my chassis layout. It helps me make sure I've got all my clearances right when actuating the suspension travel. It also helps me develop the link lengths and shock mounting locations. I did the same thing when I designed the KK-1.

    Thanks for the question!

It's cool that you have the skills to do that and also the want to do it. Keep them coming...
